~ by Jodie Lee Cleaves

I love to do it. It’s like an itch I just have to scratch–squeezing, poking and prodding at that little bugger until it pops out is my dirty little secret! Eeewww.

We know popping those pesky blackheads on your nose (or wherever they appear) is a beauty “No No” but why? and could something that feels so good be really so bad? Find out and discover an easy way to blitz your blackheads with today’s Natural Beauty Home Spa recipe:

Blackheads, what are they?

natural skin careBlackheads happen when the flow of your skin’s natural oils (sebum), get trapped by dead skin cells that don’t slough off the way they were designed to. They are then exposed to air causing it to oxidize, creating a hard blackened plug at the skin’s surface.
[tweet_dis]Squeezing a blackhead will damage the pore and the lining of the pore[/tweet_dis] which can increase abnormal oil production, further blockages, not to mention create injury to the surrounding skin exposing it to bacteria, further inflammation and infection. You know what that means? PIMPLES!

Fear not, help is at hand! Our egg white mask is a fun, chemical free and effective way to remove those unwanted lumps and bumps from the tip of your cute little button, super-sniffing nose!

Easy Egg White Blackhead Buster

Ingredients:

  • One egg white, lightly whisked
  • A few sheets of toilet tissue, split into fine layers

Method:

  • Wash your face. (We recommend Skin Renewal Solution as your one-step face cleansing product!)
  • Rinse natural face cloth  with warm water, wring then hold to face for anatural skin care moment to gently steam
  • Using a brush paint a coat of egg white onto affected area, allow to set for a moment
  • Repeat, then place a single layer of tissue over egg white
  • Continue to alternate with egg and tissue allowing to set for a moment in between
  • Take 5 minutes to stop and breath deeply while allowing the mask to completely dry
  • When dry gently pry the edges off the mask from the bridge of your nose, peeling the mask downward, taking those pesky plugs along with it.

Those of you like me who used to love to squeeze the little buggers out, will get a kick out of seeing all the plugs stuck in the mask! If you’re grossed out, just think how happy you should be knowing they are in the bin and not on your chin!

p.s.

When is a blackhead not a blackhead

If you have ever been tempted to look in a magnifying mirror at the tip of your nose with a less-than-loving eye, you might see teeny tiny dots that you think are  blackheads but aren’t. Those dots are sebaceous filaments that are naturally occurring hair-like formations. They are a natural part of the skin’s follicle (pore) structure that everyone has. Their job is to move the oil through the pore lining keeping our skin supple, lubricated and protected.
So flip that magnifying mirror over, look yourself in the eye and give thanks for your amazing skin!
