A “Diva” Dude Discovers Green Smoothies!

by | 1 comment

It’s true!  heheh… My Queenly powers of green persuasion have managed to encourage my new friend Tim to venture down the road of green smoothies!  But I can already see that Tim’s a pretty smart guy.  😉 He’s already figured out that it’s important to experiment and listen to your body… to do the work and find out what’s best for you.

Keeping a food journal and trying an elimination diet for a period of time to find out what your food triggers are is a fantastic way to take more control over your health.  And then of course, replacing meat, milk, and gluten-containing foods like wheat with more raw food, fruits, and veggies will go a LONG way to turning you into the energetic person you were meant to be.

So, this is a challenge to other men out there! Take a page from Tim’s journal and see how you feel!  You’re already invited for free to our 7-Day Summer Slurping Sensation.  Just find a loved one to sign up and send you the coupon!  But I’ll let Tim tell you more!

Hello 🙂

My name is Tim,

For years now I have been dealing with a wide variety of food allergies that since high school have left me with a massive amount of weight… mainly water retention… more than I would care to have.  And my health has slowly declined.

At first I thought it was something out of my control.  A couple years ago I had no idea about food allergies or anything like that.  And I am not the type of person that goes to a doctor… I would rather figure things out on my own and correct them myself, without the aid of medicine.  So about a year and a half ago I started doing research on a vast majority of things, and eventually stumbled upon food allergies.

milk - allergic effectsAfter a couple weeks of following the process of elimination and keeping a food journal, I came to realize that I was extremely allergic to milk and wheat.  And I also found that meat slowed my whole body down on losing water weight dramatically.  Milk on its own, would make me gain 3 lbs of water weight in one day!!!

The problem with being allergic to most things is, almost everything in a store has one or more ingredients from my list of what I can’t eat….so it was an endless battle trying to find a middle ground.  Finally I decided that the only sure way to get away from it all, was to go straight fruits and veggies, but more than that, if I was going to go that far, I figured I might as well go raw…why not right?  If going that far, might as well suck it up and go all the way.  But that’s like going to an unknown place without a map…

I ran across the 7 day diva detox, and even though I am far from a diva, lol… the principals I wanted to follow were there, and I needed to start somewhere, so I signed up.

Then later I wanted to learn more about green smoothies, so I signed up for the 3-day challenge as well… I am looking for a permanent change: an end to a chapter and a beginning of a new one, so to speak.

I am on day 5 of the detox, and I feel more healthy and energetic that I have in years.  Yesterday was the worst day for me… My wife made meatballs for sandwiches…which used to be my favorite.  I tried to eat some and it was the worst experience ever!!!!  I couldn’t eat it, it tasted so bad to me it’s not even funny.  That really caught my interest…so I tried a cookie. All I tasted was sugar…. I tried graham cracker… like eating cardboard.

I found it fascinating that in just four days time, my body had re-established what it wanted.  That made me happy!  Now I know that I made the right choice, and from here on out, I want to learn everything I can and what variety of things I can make to keep things interesting.

I am currently trying to figure out a recipe rotation so that I don’t overdo certain ingredients and develop food allergies to them.  Though, most of the recipes I found use bananas and avocado as the green smoothie base, so I’m trying to come up with other bases to use besides those two.  Any ideas?

Thanks for everything,
Tim

Here’s a 7 day fruit-base rotation for your green smoothies that both you and Tim can try out!  Note… no bananas or avocado!  But you can always keep them on hand for back-up!
