Get The Most Out Of Your Garlic: Eat It Raw
One of the best ways to make sure you reap the greatest benefits from the alliinase enzymes in the garlic is to consume fresh raw garlic, chopped finely, and allowed to sit for a bit before using it in a recipe.
Also, to make sure you are getting enough of the power packed goody, be sure to consume about ½ to 1 clove per day personally.
Here are some yummy ways to add garlic to your daily diet:
Raw Food Recipe:
Garlicky Green Goddess Sauce
Ingredients:
- Spinach
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Minced garlic
- Salt and pepper
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in food processor until smooth and creamy.
This makes and awesome salad dressing or “pasta” sauce!!
Raw Food Recipe:
Garlic Dill Salad Dressing
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup coconut meat
(reserve coconut water) - ½ cup soaked almonds
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 zucchini
- 1 avocado
- 1 bunch of cilantro stems
- 1 handful fresh dill
- 1 lemon, juiced
- sea salt to taste
Directions:
Blend all ingredients in VitaMix, using coconut water as needed, until creamy.
Serve over your favorite salad.
Raw Food Recipe:
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Salad Dressing

Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw apple cider vinegar
- 2 cups olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Minced garlic
(1-3 cloves or more if you’d like!) - 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon basil
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
(optional)
Directions:
Mix together well and pour over your favorite salad.
Refrigerate leftovers.
Great Garlicky Goodness!
There are many other ways to make sure you consume your garlic. Some folks just chew it up and swallow it down. Others mince it and mix with a little honey. Other will just toss it into a smoothie. The salad dressing route is the preferred method in our house. It’s also great to mince up a little in any dish or sauce that could use a little kick, such as guacamole!
