Rowan Has Got Fashion All Figured Out!

by Tera Warner

I’m writing you from Victoria, where I’m speaking at the Bellyfit Summit and spending time with some  close friends and hundreds of amazing women!

While here, I have the pleasure of spending time with a 7-year old young man named Rowan and his 4-year old brother, Linden. (Their parents are pretty cool people, and I enjoy them, too!)

Linden and Rowan LOVE Lego (the little block toys that you use to build empires when you’re not old enough to use hammers yet).

Rowan was in the car the other day and he was trying to convince his parents that his act of patience while they had meetings and were waiting for me, should earn him some new Lego.

His parents were busy while he was making these repeated requests, and so they kept saying they’d “talk about it tomorrow.” From behind him in the backseat, I whispered that I had some Lego negotiation tips to offer if he was interested.

There were a couple minutes of silence, spent thick with contemplation, before Rowan finally said, “I wanna hear your tips because I don’t think you have any tips on how I can get Lego.”

“You don’t huh? Well, I do have tricks, if you wanna hear them, I’ll tell you! Do you really want to hear them?”

“Yeah. But I don’t believe you.”

“What do your parents do most of the time?”

“They work.”

“Hmmm.. Why do you think they’re working?”

“So they can make money.”

“Oh. So what do they do with that money?

“They buy stuff.”

“Do they ever buy stuff for you?”

“Not very often.”

“No? So you have to buy your own food  already?’

“No. But they don’t buy me toys very often.”

“Oh, but they do buy all your food, your house, the car and all your clothes?”

“I ONLY NEED ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES!”

I’m still working on Rowan’s negotiating techniques. I’m hoping Rowan will figure out that the trick to getting more from your parents is to contribute enough to their busy, hard working lives that they stop working and take notice.

By him helping to do things, he can save them time, and if they have more time, they will be able to go and get more Lego. If he whines or complains or asks all the time, he’s just making more work for his Mom and Dad. Then his parents get more impatient and frustrated and say things like, “I’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

The reason I told you that story, wasn’t about the lego, and it wasn’t even about negotiating skills required to obtain it.

It was because when the blueberry bar-eating, mushroom-hunting, Rowan, announced he only needed ONE set of clothes in life, I knew he meant it!!

Starting tomorrow we’ll be kicking off our Be Wild program with Daniel Vitalis.

This is the kind of course people like Rowan won’t ever need to take. He’s been blessed with a life deeply rooted in Nature, connected with the elements, the seasons and founded on a whole lot of common sense. (In fact, Rowan only saw the first commercial in his life yesterday at 7-years old!)

If you have a few more sets of clothes than you need, and a few less explanations for why you’re not feeling as alive as you could be, then join us for a 23-week course where we dive into the theory and practice of living better, spending less, and rekindling the spark of life inside you by focusing on what really matters!

This course comes with an incredible support community designed to make sure you get to the finish line feeling strong, supported and a little wilder than you were when you started no matter how many outfits you have in your closet!

We hope you can join us!

Love on the wild side,

p.s.

We’re only offering this course once a year, and are not certain if we’ll be offering it next year due to our programming calendar, so definitely do what you can to come join us on the wild side this time!

Registrations close at midnight on September 28th.
