Trying to get your kids to eat right is not always the easiest job. But those little bodies need quality fuel to keep them in tip top shape for their adventures saving the world. Smoothies are an awesome way to sneak the nutrition in right under their noses. Introduced with the right finesse and you can even have them believing it’s a treat fit for a super hero. Which it is.

The following smoothie recipes will help you do just that……and you’ll enjoy them too!

Mika’s Specialty

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 pears
  • 1 apple
  • 2 stalks of celery, chopped
  • 1 handful of spinach

Directions:

Blend ingredients in the order listed, for a playful, nourishing treat.

Banana Split Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups purified water
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 handful of strawberries
  • 2 or more handfuls of spinach
  • Cacao powder to taste
  • Coconut to taste

Directions:

Mix and enjoy. Yummmm…

Berry Peachy Banana Mix

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups water (for thicker smoothie, use less)
  • 3 bananas
  • 1-1/2 cups peaches
  • 1-1/2 cups strawberries
  • 3 medjool dates
  • 2 handfuls red kale
  • 1 handful spinach

Directions:

Blend and feel the goodness all the way down to your toes.

The Popeye Punch

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of mixed berries
  • 1 banana
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 handful of parsley
  • 1 tsp spirulina
  • filtered water to top up
  • splash of Agave (optional)

Directions:

Blend and then let the ‘gun show’ begin!

Use organic produce whenever possible. At the very least use the dirty dozen list when you shop.

We’ve provided you with some basic recipes here but once you build your confidence, play around with the recipes, make them your own and to your child’s specific taste. Make up fun names for the smoothies, ones that will entice your child, ones like “Super Hero Power Smoothie”. Get your kids in on the fun of creating and naming them too. It’s important to make health fun.
