Green Cleaning Solutions For A Safe, Healthy Home – Interview With Vanessa Stewart

A wishsummit.com interview

Piles of paper, shoes on the floor in the mudroom, narrow pathways in the basement, that six foot radius around your teenager’s laundry hamper, or nicknacks peeking through a layer of dust.  These and other disturbing mental images come to mind at the mere mention of the word clutter. Yet some symptoms of clutter are much more subtle.  In fact, it’s entirely possible that our clutter problems are all in our head!

Since we’ve been focusing mostly on toxicity and all those invisible hazards, you may be wondering why we would switch to the more obvious topic of clutter.  After all it’s right there in front of us, clearly visible to everyone.  It reminds us every day that we should do something about it, and quite frankly, we don’t like to be reminded!

Here are some key points from this interview:

  • What clutter is all about is delayed decisions or delayed actions
  • Clutter is the ability to decide in the moment if you’re going to keep something and if you are, where are you going to put it?
  • S.P.A.C.E.S. – S is to Sort, P is to Pitch, A is to Assign, C is to Contain, E is to Evaluate or Eliminate, S is to Simplify
  • If we keep only what we love, need and use, assign it a home, and keep it there, or put it there when we’re done, then our clutter is gone
  • What’s in the way of me being, doing, or having what I what?
